  SPAZI AVVENIMENTI E NOVITA´ - 66TH MIFED, MILAN SELECTED SCREENINGS FIERA DI MILANO, 17-22 OTTOBRE 1999

 
   
  Presented the Press Conference of the Autumn Film Market Mifed, at Palazzo della Stampa, Sala Sironi, Milan. 478 films from around the world and the number of first screenings on the rise. A rich calendar of events is foreseen for the special exhibition. 277 companies from 22 countries and 478 films for screening at Mifed, market of cinema and audiovisuals, will take place from 17th to 22nd of October. Of the film to be shown a good 297 (or 62%) will be first screenings. Mifed ´99 is sponsored bu the Region of Lombardy, the Ciry of Milan and the Eurimages. Consiglio d´Europa. The geography of the participation truly represents the makeup of the worls audiovisual business, reaffirming the international nature of the exhibition, 90% of whose visitors come from abroad. North amercia and Western Europe are the hearth and soul of the production and marketing of audiovisual products: heading the list are companies from Usa with 45% of the total (124), followed by those from Italy (46%) with 17%, from Great Britain (26) with 9%, France (16) with 6% and Germany (11) with 4%. Beside the Milan selected screenings (14th to 16th October), in 7 city centre cinemas, a rich calendar of outside event will also involve the Milanese people. Mifed will be finally introducing the "Mifed Award", the first and only acknowlegement in the world, and instituted by this Milanese film market, dedicated to the best European film exporters. Furthermore there will be a connection between cinema and fashion two main topics of showbusiness worldwide, made possible by the involment of the "Camera Nazionale della Moda", five historic gowns designed and created by Maison Gattinoni for famous stars and displayed in specially designed showcases. The white drape created for Ingrid Bergman in 1955 at La Rinascente in Piazza Duomo; the white embroidered dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in "War and Peace" in 1959 at Bruno Magli in Corso Vittorio Emanuele and some others.
