  GLOBAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS PROVIDER MAKING PROGRESS IN DEFINING FUTURE BUSINESS OPERATION

 
   
  Brussels, 6 april 2000 - Global One, awarded ´Best Carrier 1999´ by customers under the Emap Media World Communication Awards 1999, announced key appointments for its new organizational structure. Daniel Caclin, former head of the France Telecom data division, has been confirmed in his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Global One. Michel Huet, acting Ceo in the transition period, has assumed his position as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he oversees a new organizational structure which encompasses Global Sales, five regions and Global Service Operations. Some of the key nominated positions to head up this new organizational structure include Barbara Blanck as head of Global Sales and Rick Williams as head of Global Service Operations. Reflecting changes in the regional structure of Global One, Philippe Koebel has been appointed to head up Europe, while Gerald Wilczek will lead a designated region comprising Russia, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. The North America region will be led by Detlef Spang, who in addition remains Acting Head of the Central/south America region. Toru Ogawa remains head of the Asia-pacific region. Bernard Jamet will be head of Strategy. Jean Sanlaville will remain Chief Financial Officer of Global One. Further top management positions will be announced at a later stage. Reflecting these organizational changes, a new common corporate headquarters for Global One is to be created, split across two existing Global One sites in Reston, Virginia, U. S. And Paris, France. The move will be completed by the end of this year. Daniel Caclin, Ceo of Global One, said: "We have developed an organization to achieve our critical business objectives: to double revenues and reach positive Ebit by 2002. Global One is well positioned to accelerate the development of new Ip products and services, boost sales on a worldwide basis and streamline its operation. We are also combining all the skills from Global One and France Telecom to create a true global leadership team. " He added: "Thanks to everyone´s support the transition process is on track. This will allow us to rapidly operate worldwide as one company and increase our business. " Key changes in the Global One business operation already announced include the extension and development of direct sales operations in the Us and in Germany. At the same time, Global One will continue to develop, within its Enterprise Network Solutions portfolio, strong Ip services, especially value-added services such as Global Intranet Vpn, Global Security, Global Web Hosting, and Asp activity in order to support the new requirements of its web-based customers, and for E-commerce activities. The Enterprise Network Solutions portfolio focuses on offering solutions-oriented products that address corporate customers with global communication requirements as well as their communities of interest. Global One, a member of the France Telecom Group, offers a single source for the provision of seamless voice, data and Ip services for businesses, carriers and consumers around the world. Global One focuses on multinational customers and operates a global network infrastructure which has over 1,400 network access centres in more than 65 countries.
