MONACO TELECOM SELECTS ALCATEL TO LAUNCH VIDEO-ON-DEMAND SERVICES VIA DSL-STREAMED TELEVISION

Paris, January 14, 2003 - Alcatel announces that it has signed a partnership agreement with Monaco Telecom, to offer video-on-demand services via Dsl-streamed television within the Principality, starting in mid-January 2003. Alcatel, the world´s leader in broadband access, will deliver an integrated solution including interfaces with the content providers. Monaco Telecom, having already successfully tested video-on-demand via Pc with 500 testers during a nine-month period in 2002, will offer a range of on-demand cinema, available via television sets, to more than 200 Monaco residents for an initial period of six months. The content will include many recent French and American films, delivered in crystal-clear digital quality. Monaco Telecom will be in a position to evaluate a live "triple-play" offering all via one simple Dsl connection: telephone services, high-speed Internet and film viewing. This new step confirms the Principality´s commitment to offer its residents innovative and technologically-advanced services. |
